How to Save Time & Money During the Holidays
The holidays are quickly approaching! Everyone we know is trying to figure out how to avoid the stress of spending too much time and money this time of year. Follow these 10 tips to help you make the most of your time and money this holiday season!
Decide how much you can spend.
First things first! Set a budget before you head to the mall. Don’t overlook the little extras when you draft your budget. Include everything from postage for Christmas cards to food for that big holiday dinner.
Make a list and check it twice
Now that you have your budget set, make a list of the people you want to buy for. Now go over that list and figure out how much you can spend on each person. If you don’t have enough money to cover all of those on your list now is the time to cut some names. Focus on the amount that you will spend rather than what you will buy.
Pay in Cash & use coupons
Try taking out the amount you budgeted for gifts and shop with that cash. once you’re out of money then that’s it! Also search for coupons ...
HOW TO DECORATE YOUR HOME LIKE FIXER UPPER JOANNA GAINES
Shiplap Walls
Exposing the rough-sawed wood boards, often found in older homes behind drywall, then painting them white is one of this design duo’s favorite reno tricks. Not every house has existing shiplap. To get the look, Joanna suggests buying pine boards with tongue-and-groove edges, nailing them to the wall and painting them.
Apron-Front Sink
While the style exudes traditional charm, Joanna likes to pair it with modern touches, like a pull-down faucet and concrete countertops.
Blue Paint
Watery colors are always welcome in Fixer Upper renos. Try using lighter blues with gray undertones.
Vintage Signs
Joanna and Chip love to hit up flea markets, and antiques shops for fun vintage style signs. They gravitate toward large-scale pieces, which can serve as art.
Giant Clock
This is a great way to fill up a large wall rather than cluttering it with a bunch of smaller items.
Iron Light Fixtures
When it comes to lighting, Joanna veers between traditional, dainty chandeliers and hard-edged iron fixtures.
Wool Rugs

HACK #1
Caramel Apple Pops!
Full size caramel apples are a Fall staple, but often messy to eat, or too big for one person. These bite-size versions are much more manageable.

2 tablespoons light corn syrup
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1/4 cup room heavy cream, room temperature
Salt
3 apples, preferably Granny Smith

7 Ways to Reduce Mortgage Closing Costs!
Mortgage closing costs can be one of the most difficult parts of buying a home. The cost can be high, ranging anywhere from 2%-5%, depending on your locale, lender, and type of mortgage.
Closing costs include the application fee, origination fee, appraisal, fees for home inspection, credit report, and an attorney or closing agent. Some, like the application fee, are paid to the lender. Others, like the appraisal and home inspection, are paid to third-parties and have less room for negotiation.
Homeowners may feel they have little control over the charges. Nevertheless, it's possible for home buyers and homeowners to reduce their closing costs.
1. Shop Around
When shopping for a mortgage lender, ask lenders about their closing costs when you ask about their interest rates. Ask about their application fee, loan processing fee (also known as an underwriting fee), and third-party fees paid to others, such as appraisers. Are fees refundable? When are they paid? Most home buyers will just ask about their mortgage r...

Houston Housing Market After Hurricane Harvey
Many of us are asking the same question! What will happen to the housing market in Houston after Hurricane Harvey?
Because we have no way of comparing to previous storms, being that this was the WORST we have ever seen, we went to the media to see what is being predicted:
For six months, Sue and Roger Powell have been hoping to find a buyer for their 7,100-square-foot home in the Houston suburb of Katy. A week ago, after they waded out of it with a few suitcases on air mattresses, those hopes had largely faded. Then they got an unexpected call from their real estate agent: a house hunter was interested.
“Somebody actually called her before we got back in here,” Sue Powell said as she stood in her driveway last week, a safety mask around her neck and a pile of her possessions on the curb.
“I was really surprised,” said her husband, describing how they had “gondoliered” their way back home over Labor Day weekend. “I didn’t think anyone would be interested for years.”
But interest is rarely lacking here. The ...
